How to Screenshot on a Google Pixel Step-by-Step
It’s super easy to take a screenshot on a Google Pixel – as long as you know how to do it. Our step-by-step guide explains very simply how you can take screenshots on your Pixel and where to find them once they’re saved.
How to take a screenshot on your Google Pixel
First, navigate to the screen that you want to capture. You then need to press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time.
Your Google Pixel will then capture the screen and save it to your phone. You should see a preview of the screenshot in the bottom left corner.
Clicking on this preview will give you more options for your screenshot. From here, you can share the screenshot, edit the screenshot, or select Capture More to take a longer, scrolling screenshot.
If you click Capture More, you will be able to scroll down and increase the size of the screenshot using the crop guidelines that appear. Once you have all the content selected, you can click Save, or Cancel to delete the screenshot.
How to take a screenshot on a Google Pixel using different navigations
Most Google Pixel phones give you a choice of how to navigate around your phone. These include:
- Gesture navigation, using no buttons
- 3-button navigation, using three buttons for Home, Back and App overview
- 2- button navigation, using two buttons for Home and Back (only available on the Pixel 3, 3XL, 31 and 3a XL)

To take a screenshot on your Google Pixel when using gesture navigation, you will need to swipe up from the bottom of your screen and hold. You can do this from any open screen as you’ll then be able to choose the app that you want to screenshot. You will then have the option to select Screenshot.

How to find your screenshots on a Google Pixel
All the screenshots you take on a Google Pixel will be saved to your Photo Library. From here, you can edit, share or delete the screenshots you take.
To find the screenshots, go to your Photo Library and find the album titled Screenshots. This is where all the screenshots are stored. You can then select the image you want from this album.
You can send the screenshot via various apps when you click the Share button. If you want to crop or add text or drawings to your screenshot, click the Edit button.
How to screen record on your Google Pixel
You can capture a video of your screen by using the Screen Record function on your Google Pixel. To do this, swipe down twice from the top of your screen to access your Quick Settings. You may already see the option to Screen Record there. If you can’t see it, you may need to swipe right to see more options. If it isn’t there, you can select Edit and move Screen Record into your Quick Settings options.
Once it’s set up, you can select Screen Record. You will have the option to record or not record audio through the microphone, as well as to show or not show where you are touching the screen. Once you have the settings you want, click Start. The recording will then begin.
You can navigate around your phone, use an app or record a video from another app. Once you’re finished, you can swipe down from the top of your screen and click Tap to Stop from the Screen Record notification. This will stop the recording.
You can find all your screen recordings in the Movie album in your Photo Library. From here, you can edit, share and delete your recordings.
